Mr. Reuben Alan Walter, 76, of Thatcher, passed away on Thursday, June 20th, 2013 at his residence. Alan was born at home near Manzanola, CO on April 24, 1937, the son of the late Reuben James and Pearl (Clinger) Walter. He was the widower of Patricia Lee (Donegan) Walter. They were married on May 9, 1962 in La Junta, CO. She preceded him in death in 2007 and he spent many days missing her. He served in the U.S. Navy. Alan was a self-employed Rancher/Cattleman and cowboy in the Thatcher, CO area for over 50 years. He enjoyed working cattle, horses and spending time with his grandkids. Alan also enjoyed operating heavy equipment and helping neighbors, hunting, fishing, playing guitar and the mandolin and loved eating. He was a dreamer and was always looking for new adventures. He is survived by: Daughter Sandy wife of Steve Milenski of Fowler, CO; Daughter Donna Jo wife of Tim Garrett of Hoehne, CO; Son Rusty husband of Kendra Walter of Thatcher, CO; Sister Mary Jane Hesslink of Ordway, CO; Sister Edith wife of Lloyd Hall of Delhi, CO; Brother Rev. William Walter of Olathe, KS; Brother Jack husband of Shirley Walter of La Junta, CO; Brother Tom husband of Glenna Walter of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren Alan was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Patricia Walter, 2 brothers, Grant Walter and Bob Walter; 2 sisters, Ruth Rafferty and Wanda Walter Funeral Services will be at the Community Presbyterian Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26th, with Gail Allen officiating. A Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
