Albert Larry Leikam

Albert Larry (Larry) Leikam, 79, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away at 12:40 AM, Monday, April 4th, peacefully, at Crowley County Nursing Center, Ordway, Crowley County. Albert was born in Rocky Ford, CO on April 21, 1936, a son of the late Catherine (Jirgensohn) and Albert Leikam He was the husband of Marla Kathryn (Jorgenson) Leikam. They were married June 15, 1957 in Auburn, WA. She survives. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Rocky Ford, CO. Larry graduated from Rocky Ford High School and attended welding trade school in Portland, OR. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a Welder and had previously worked at Usibelli Coal Mine in Suntrana, AK. Then he came home and owned and operated the family farm. Albert is survived by: wife, Marla of the home; two daughters, Shannon, wife of Kevin Charles, of Kaysville, UT; Wendy, wife of Tracy Ramsey, of Pueblo, CO; three sons Wayne, husband of Sandy Leikam, of La Junta, CO; Michael, husband of Janet Leikam, of Sierra Vista, AZ; Brian Leikam, of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister-in-law: Paula (George) Hutchison of Sequim, WA; He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Josh Leikam; Tim Leikam; Devon (Holli) Dowdy; Erica Dowdy; Brady Charles & Camden Charles: 3 great-granddaughters: Jami Dowdy; Callie Leikam & Zoey Zimmerman. Preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law: Thorella Usibelli: father-in-law: Harry Jorgenson; Niece: Connie Wharton. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 8th at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Ralph Patrick officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sangre De Cristo Hospice 124 W, Cranston, Fowler, CO 81039 or St. Peters Lutheran Church, 952 Washington, Rocky Ford, CO 81067.
