Mr. Alberto Chavez, 72, of Rocky Ford passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 peacefully at Pioneer Health Care Center Alberto was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on April 7, 1937. He was the widower of Rosa Estella (Torres) Chavez. He retired as a Laborer at Griffin Holder in Rocky Ford. He is survived by his children: Daughter Lola Chavez of Mexico; Daughter Olivia Chavez of Mexico; Son Alberto Chavez Jr. of Baja, California; Son Ramon Chavez of Baja, California; Step Daughter Frances wife of Gregg Haber of Plains, Kansas; Step Daughter Josephine wife of Martin Medina of Arizona; Step Daughter Elsie wife of Freddie Tronocso of Florida; Step Daughter Teresa wife of Damien Martinez of Kismet, Kansas; Step Son Ramon Torres of Plains, Kansas; Step Son Manuel husband of Wendy Torres of Plains, Kansas; Step Son Paul husband of Michelle Torres of Plains, Kansas; Sister Maria Chavez of Chicago, IL; Brother Socorro Chavez of Clovis, NM. He is also survived by Many GrandChildren and Great Grandchildren and his long time companion of 18 years Helen Montoya. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Mateld Chavez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 24th, with Fr. Don Malin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
