Mrs. Alice Pauline Dietz, 91, of Ordway died on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 while in the company of family members at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Center - West, LaJunta, Otero County, CO. Pauline was born in Ordway, CO on October 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Lethia Ann (Knouse) Sweckard. She attended the Deaf and Blind School of Colorado Springs. She was the widow of Benjamin Dietz. They were married on July 17, 1942 in Raton, NM. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1995. She had worked for the Crowley County Court House, Dr. McDonald's office and babysat for Irene Togler. She was a member of Ordway United Methodist Church. She was a also a member of the Deaf Club of Colorado Springs and Pueblo, the Sunshine Club of Ordway and the Sr. Citizens of Ordway. She is survived by: Daughter Judy wife of Marvin Whatley of Clovis, NM; Daughter Mary wife of Tom Cuckow of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Robert Dietz of Gig Harbor, WA; Brother Franklin Sweckard of Pueblo, CO; Granddaughter Ronda Whatley of Amarillo, TX; Granddaughter Laura wife of David Mendenhall of Rocky Ford, CO; Grandson JR Whatley of Socorro, NM; Grandson Scott husband of Crystal Cuckow of Las Animas, CO; Sister-in-law Ruby Dietz of Trinidad, CO; Great-Grandchildren 7 Funeral Services will be at the Ordway United Methodist Church, Ordway, CO, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 13th, with De Etta Gottel officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ordway, CO. Casketbearers will be Marvin Whatley, Tom Cuckow, Scott Cuckow, JR Whatley, Skyler Whatley, and David Mendenhall. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice 118 W. 4th La Junta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford.
