Aurora Maes

Mrs. Aurora Maes, 100, of Rocky Ford passed away on Holy Saturday, April 7th, 2012 while in the company of family members at her residence. Aurora was born in Watros, NM on April 13, 1911, the daughter of the late Antonio and Bartolita (Jaramillo) Arroyos. On Sept. 12, 1928 she was united in marriage to Rosendo Maes. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1991. She was a busy homemaker and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. She enjoyed needlework and was a woman of strength and faith and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by: Son Luis husband of Chong Maes of Garden City, KS; Daughter Eleanor Apodaca of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Dorothy Rocha of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Bob husband of Elsie Maes of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Anthony husband of Lydia Maes of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Eric husband of Marisol Maes of Liberal, KS. Daughter-in-law: Tina Maes of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter-in-law: Joan Maes of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter-in-law Lena Maes of Rocky Ford, CO; She is also survived by 38 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 54 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild. She also raised 5 additional grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children: Maria Amalia, Julia Maes, Daniel Maes, Tomas Maes, Gilberto Maes, Rosalina Maes, Emilio Maes, Johnny Maes, David "Chiefy" Maes, Manuel Maes, 4 grandchildren: Johnny "Spanky" Maes, Jr., Carlos Maes, and Leo Maes; Richard Trujillo; sister: Marcela Jaramillo, Mary Jaramillo. A Rosary service will be recited at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow all on her 101st birthday at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 13th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
