Barbara Ann Craig, 78, of Fort Worth, TX, formerly of Rocky Ford, passed away Friday, September 18th, 2020.

Barbara Miller Craig born Barbara Ann Dowler, first born child, to William T Dowler and Dorothy Bettie Dowler (Souder) in La Junta Colorado on February 7, 1942. A few years later the family moved to Dayna Point. She spent her school days in California and graduated from Escondido High School in 1959. She married Arthur Eugene Lawton and had two children Theresa Michelle and Christopher Eugene. She started her career in banking and five years later decided to move to Rocky Ford Colorado in 1965. Shortly thereafter, her third child, Shelly Ann, was born. She worked as a waitress at Peggy's Café in Rocky Ford before she got a job at First Industrial Bank. During that time, she volunteered for Women's Rotary Club, among other organizations in her spare time. During those years, she married Charles J Miller and became a stepmother to Steve Miller (wife Elaine) and Diane Miller (Zimmerman). She loved boating on Pueblo Lake on the weekends. She was very fortunate to travel to many countries around the world, including Russia and China in her lifetime. She also had the opportunity during a fund raiser to meet the late President Ronald Raegan. In the late 1980's, she moved to Rockport, Texas where she and Charles (Chuck), ran an RV park and they both loved being by the ocean and meeting new people. She moved back to Colorado to assist in caring for her ailing mother in 2000. She lived in the area for many years before moving to Texas with her children.

She enjoyed life as well as her grandchildren and was loved by many people. It was during her time in Texas that she was diagnosed with dementia and unfortunately, it took a drastic toll on her health. Even though her suffering was extremely difficult on her and her family, she still enjoyed many activities as well as singing and dancing and showing her vibrant and quirky personality to everyone whom she met.

She is survived by her two children Christopher Lawton (Denise Lawton) of San Antonio Texas, Shelly Lawton Borg of Fort Worth Texas, Steve Miller (Elaine Miller) Rocky Ford and Diane Zimmerman, Denver, Co. Brother William L Dowler (Margaret) of Escondido, CA. Grandchildren Michelle Romero, La Junta Co., Mike Darnell, Pueblo Co., Kris Crow, Alvord Tx, Shawn Borg, Arlington, Tx., Marc Borg, Fort Worth, Tx., Alizabeth Borg, Arlington, Tx. Numerous nieces and nephews as well as many great grandbabies.

She is preceded in death by her parents: William T Dowler, Dorothy Bettie (Mann) McCurry; daughter: Theresa Michelle Lawton; husband: Charles J. (Chuck) Miller; step-father: Robert (Bobby) Mann, sister: Georgia Jeanette (Susie) Holms.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 28th at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor John Dell officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO.
