Mrs. Bessie Marie Archuleta, 89, of Rocky Ford passed away Friday, February 24th, 2012 peacefully at Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Center - West, LaJunta, CO. Bessie was born in Las Vegas, NM on January 21, 1923, the daughter of the late Manuel and Frutosa (Martinez) Roybal. She was the widow of Eugene Joe Archuleta. They were married on Feb. 3, 1945 in Rocky Ford. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1979. Bessie was a Housecleaner and had also worked at Frozen Foods. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Bessie enjoyed playing softball with Tillie's Brats, sewing, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by: Son Eugene (Terri) Archuleta, Jr. of California; Daughter Isabell (Richard) Quintana of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter Terri (Robert Gonzales) Archuleta of Mesa, AZ; Daughter Rose Teal of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter Dee (Glen) Young of Douglasville, GA; Daughter Joann (Ygnacio) Lopez of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Marylou (Antonio) Dixon of Douglasville, GA; Brother Jack Roybal of California; Brother Bennie (Martha) Roybal of California; Sister Martha Torrez of Olney Springs, CO; Sister Florence Medina of California; Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and a Great-Great-Grandchild. She is also survived by special friends: Dennis Lopez, Phil & Ruby Aragon, Pricilla Cardenas. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Betty (Archuleta) Ensor; brother: Dennis Roybal; 4 sisters: Mary (Ralph) Martinez, Mary Alice (Don) Martinez, Ida (Joe) Bernal & Tillie (Joe) Talmich; brother-in-law: George Torrez; granddaughter: Monique Onsurez A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 1st, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
