Bettie Miell

Mrs. Bettie Lorraine Miell, 84, of La Junta passed away Friday, April 5th, 2013 while in the company of family members at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, CO. Bettie was born in Limon, Colorado on December 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Jacob Cecil and Dora Anna (Hinck) Calvert. She attended school in Limon. She was the widow of Lyle Eugene Miell. They were married on May 2, 1947 in Goodland, KS and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1996. She was a homemaker and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta, CO. Bettie was a member of the DAR, a Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, genealogy. She was also past Mrs. RFHS and Mrs. Wrestling and her home was always open to anyone needing love. She is survived by: Son Steven husband of Jeanie Miell of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Richard husband of Gloria Miell of La Junta, CO; Daughter Louann wife of Max Cordova of La Junta, CO; Son Daniel husband of Nadine Miell of Pueblo West, CO; Sister Bonnie Calvert of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Justin (Yolanda) Miell, Crispin (Alisha) Miell, Saren Miell, Candice (Patrick) Hill, Qiana (Matthew) Martinez, Cody Miell, Royce Miell, Briana (Robert) Maes, Nathaniel Miell. 19 great-grandchildren; Taylor (Patrick) Stedman, Tiffany Baiocco, Lennon & Dylan Miell, Harmony & Zen Muniz, Lila Jean & Lucinda Jane Miell, Crislyn, Adisyn & Brilyn Miell, Alana, Isabella, Calvin & Baby Hill, Mateo & Julius Martinez, Emilio & Liliana Maes She was preceded in death by her parents; Infant Daughter: Sharron Miell and a Sister: Margie Salzbrenner A Rosary service will be recited at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish, La Junta, CO, at 10:00 am on Friday, April 12th, with Fr. Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating. A visitation will be on Thursday from 9-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
