Betty Lee Stone

April 17, 1926 - February 27, 2014

Betty was born on April 17, 1926 in Rocky Ford, CO to Lydia and George Wittman. She passed away Thursday, February 27 at Pioneer Nursing Care Center. She worked as a bookkeeper for Roberta Feed Company while going to nursing school and after graduation worked for Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Rocky Ford, and in the OB department and in the Nursing Care Center of AVRMC for many years. She was known as "Grandma Cookie" to all the grandchildren and neighborhood children for she always had a treat for all who came to her home to visit. She is survived by children Tommy (Ann) Stone, Linda (Larry) Hall, Billy Stone, Jon Stone. Grandchildren, Paul (Alice)Stone, Lisa (Jimmy) Webber, Nanette Stark, Kelli (Scott) Rocha, Jimmy and Steven Yates, Mellisa (Chris) Carter, Jonathan (Jennie) Stone, Ronnie (Andrea) Stone and Alex Stone. Great Grandchildren, Christine (Chris) Aumick, Luke and Aubrey Stone, Hannah, Molly and Jonah Webber, Ashby and Bella Stark, Brandon and Zach Mata, Brandi, Nathan and Nick Rocha, Tyler, Nick and Marley Yates, Harley Jane and Chance Carter, Allisa and Zoe Stone and Emily Stone. She also had a great-great grandson Stryder Aumick. She is also survived by many other extended family members in the area. She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Sr., the love of her life after 57 years of marriage, and by baby twins Danny and Donna. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Crossroads Church in Swink, CO.
