Mrs. Betty Jo Zimmerman, 67, of Rocky Ford died on Friday, April 30th, 2010 suddenly at her residence. Betty was born in Miami, OK on February 3, 1943, the daughter of the late Everette Amer and Josie (Waddle) Ewers. She graduated from OJC with an Accounting Degree. She was the widow of Carl Henry Zimmerman. They were married on November 27, 1996 in LaJunta. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2009. She was also married to James Robert "Bob" Perry in 1961. He preceded her in death. She retired as a Technician at Social Services in La Junta. She was the first woman truck driver for Bray Trucking and owned a couple of trucks with her first husband Bob Perry. She was a member of the Antique Auto Club. She enjoyed riding her Harley, working in her garden with her roses and watching hummingbirds with her dog Jo, who preceded her in death. She is survived by; Son Bob husband of Laura Perry of LaJunta, CO; Daughter Julia "Sis" Perry of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Edith McMillan of Richmond, KS; Sister Katie wife of Allen Hopkins of Miami, OK; Sister Sue Divorce of Great Bend, KS; Brother Tom husband of Dixie Ewers of Stratford, TX; Niece Earline wife of Elvin Nelson of Iola, KS. Special friend; Vi Manly of Ordway, CO She is also survived by; 3 grandchildren: John & Justin Bruna, and Austin Perry; step-grandson: Tyler Zimmerman; 3 great-grandchildren: Garrett Bruna; Colton Bruna & Tulsa Bruna; numerous nieces and nephews and great niece and nephews. She was preceded her in death by a son: Rodney Perry, Dec. 4, 1988; sister: Peggy Penrod in 2009; brother: Bill Ewers in 1990. Memorial Services will be at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home, Rocky Ford, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 4th, with Pastor John Dell officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time. Memorials may be made to Animal Rescue 1312 Adams, La Junta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
