Mr. Carl Henry Zimmerman, Sr., 74, of Rocky Ford died Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 peacefully at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO. Carl was born in the family home in Clay Creek near Lamar, CO on August 6, 1935, the son of the late David Franklin and Erma Garnet (Scott) Zimmerman. He attended schools in the Manzanola & Ordway area. He was the husband of Betty Zimmerman. They were married on November 27, 1996 in LaJunta. He was previously married to Eileen (Grasmick) Zimmerman. She preceded him in death. He retired as a Truck Driver at Valco Concrete in Rocky Ford. He also worked at Wright Motor Lines, Bray Motor Lines and Rocky Ford Transportation Center. He was a member of the ELKS Lodge in Rocky Ford and the Antique Auto Club. He enjoyed John Deere Tractors. He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; Son Carl Zimmerman, Jr. of Pueblo West, CO; Son Randy Zimmerman of Rocky Ford, CO; Step Son Bob husband of Laura Perry of LaJunta, CO; Sister Mary wife of Harry Nelson of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Esther wife of Larry Roberts of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Wilma wife of Gary Scarbrough of Douglas, AK; Special Niece Earlene wife of Alvin Nelson of Iola, KS. He is also survived by; grandson: Tyler Zimmerman; 5 step-grandchildren: John & Justin Bruna, Michael Waits, Julia Sis Perry and Austin Perry; numerous nieces and nephews and great niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Eileen and 6 brothers and sisters. Memorial Service will be at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 11th, with Pastor John Dell officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time. A memorial fund has been established with the Animal Rescue; 1312 Adams, LaJunta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
