Charles Edward McPherson, III, 78, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Sunday, February 22nd, peacefully, at his residence. . Charles was born in Goodland, KS on September 8, 1936, a son of the late Donna Mildred (Moon) and Charles Edward McPherson, Jr. Charles graduated from Lamar Union High School and Colorado State Teacher's College in Greeley, CO. He was the husband of Rose Jean (Basinger) McPherson,, they were married on July 22, 1960, at Parkhill United Methodist Church in Denver, CO.. He served in the U.S. Navy. Charles worked as a math teacher and taught for 27 years in Burlington, CO. He had also taught in McClave & Canon City, CO. He attended Olney Springs United Methodist Church in Olney Springs. He is survived by his wife, Jean of the home; Daughter Sharon, wife of Ed Marynowski McPherson, of Colorado Springs, CO; Son Charles, husband of Melissa Slusher McPherson, IV, of Caldwell, ID. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Jesse Marynowski & Marie Marynowski, Garrett, Ethan, Cayden & Macy McPherson. Charles was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 14th, with Will Meiklejohn, Brian Blackburn and Marty Lee officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be at a later time. A reception will follow the service at the church.
