Chester E. Brewer

February 10, 1943 - December 2, 2017

Chester Edward Brewer, 74, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Saturday, December 2nd, peacefully, at his residence.

Chester was born February 10, 1943 to Harper E. Brewer and Ruth D. Graham Brewer, on their farm at Troutman, Chicora PA in front of a coal stove on a cold winter day. Went home to be with the LORD, December 2, 2017 peacefully at home in the presence of his family.

He and son Earl were partners in the local business, Brewer Construction. He worked as a carpenter everywhere he lived, a farmer in Pennsylvania and a sheep and cattle rancher, hunting guide and sawyer in Montana till the LORD called him to preach the Word.

He was a graduate of Empire State Baptist Seminary, Syracuse, NY and Seaway Baptist Bible Seminary, Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. Both, no frills seminary's for men with families who had to work to support them. He pastored in Montana, New York, Colorado and in the prison system 7 years in Bent and Crowley counties. He was a thorough teacher of the Bible and asking him any question concerning spiritual things, could give you book, chapter and even verse. Most of the time, even quote the passage in answer.

Next to his family, he loved Elk hunting. Every child was taught gun safety and hunting skills. His greatest pride was when the kids got their prize. He always hunted for provision for the table, but considered it a bonus when the bull had big horns. He guided for some impressive horns, but his own greatest one was just a few points shy of being in the Boone and Crocket Book. He is the author of an Elk hunting book.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene of the home;

Daughter Charlotte (Cliff) Hosea, of La Junta, CO;

Daughter Mary Anne (Kevin) Esparza - Johnson, of Pueblo West, CO;

Daughter Joyce Brewer, of Gilbert, AZ;

Son Everett Brewer, of Ordway, CO;

Son Earl D. Brewer, Sr., of Rocky Ford, CO;

Daughter Laura (Lonye) Buck, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Brother Richard Brewer, of Cleveland, OH;

Grandchildren, Justin Hosea, Earl Brewer,Jr, Wesley Given, Jillian Given, Brittney Coy, Jessica Brewer, Tara Clifford, Stephany, Stacy, Stella and Sarah Esparza. Great grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, John (Ollie) Hosea and Jaxon and Jacy Coy. Nephew, Paul Brewer and Niece, Robin Brewer Benson, many cousins and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Harper, Jr. and his wife Bert; nephew Joe Brewer.

A Public Viewing will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, December 5th at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO and from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday, December 6th at Faith Baptist Church in Fowler, CO. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 6th at Faith Baptist Church in Fowler, CO with Rev. Steve Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery in Las Animas, CO.
