Claude "Sonny" E. Meyer

Mr. Claude Eugene (Sonny) Meyer, 72, of Manzanola died Thursday, October 28th, 2010 surrounded by his family and under the watchful eye of the loving staff at the Crowley County Nursing Center, Ordway, CO. Claude was born in La Junta, CO on January 20, 1938, the son of the late Claude Perry and Georgina Selma (Cochran) Meyer. He graduated from Manzanola High School in 1956. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Bailey) Meyer. They were married on August 2, 1969 in Rocky Ford. They were married for 41 years. She survives. He retired as a Farmer in 1999. Sonny was honored by being chosen Conservationist of the year as well as serving on the Otero County Planning Commision and the Rocky Ford FHA Board of Directors. He was a member of Manzanola United Methodist Church Manzanola, CO . He is survived by his wife Mary Lou of the home; Son Steve husband of Terri Meyer of Sacramento, CA; Son David Meyer of Pueblo, CO; Daughter Debbi wife of Les Hilburn of Canon City, CO; Daughter Brenda Passarelli of Pueblo, CO; Sister Paula Malott of Swink, CO. He is also survived by Grandchildren: Shaun (Krystal), Dillon, Logan Hilburn; Thomas and Cristi Meyer, Bo Brodrick, Seth Passarelli, and Mack and Emily Meyer and numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara, his parents, son: Michael Brodrick; twin sister: Claudine Wagner Funeral Services will be at the Community Presbyterian Church, Rocky Ford, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 2nd, with Rev. Steve Culver and Pastor John Dell officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 9 AM until 5 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
