Dale S Rusher 92 of Apache Junction, AZ passed away Saturday March 2, 2019. Dale was born in Crowley, CO on March 14, 1926 to Dan and Fay Rusher. Dale grew up in the Crowley area on the family farm and graduated from Crowley High School on May 18, 1944. Upon joining the Navy Dale was sent to Farragut, Idaho for basic training on May 21, 1944. He went on to Iowa State College for diesel engineering training. Dale then served in WWII on the LST 1108 and returned home from service in June 1946 as a Motor Machinist Mate Third Class.
After the war Dale worked at various mechanic jobs until he returned to the family farm and ranch in Crowley. On March 5, 1948 he married Ruby "Juanita" Hendrix and later moved north of Ordway at Box Springs to ranch and farm until his retirement. To this union was born sons William, Dale Neal, Terry and Eddie and daughters Dayla and Nita. They were married for a wonderful 57 years. In the early 1970's he branched out from the farm and ranch and operated a custom harvesting and trucking business.
Dale enjoyed playing baseball during his early years where he played semi-pro ball. Upon retirement, he played slow pitch softball into his 80's. Dale was well known for his love of sports, gunsmithing , and computers. He also had a passion for restoring and riding motorcycles. Upon his death he was still active in riding his Can-Am Spider whenever possible.
Dale was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Ordway where he served as an elder emeritus. He served as a regional moderator, and on numerous boards for the Central Rocky Mountain Region for the Disciples of Christ Church. Dale was a very outgoing person within the community and will always be remembered as a person who "knew no strangers". After the death of Juanita in 2005 Dale married Bernice Berchet on April 5, 2007 and resided in Apache Junction.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Fay Rusher, wife Juanita, and brothers Leland, Harley, Edwin, and Dean.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice, sons William (Theresa), Dale Neal (Kathe), Terry (Debbie), Eddie (Judy), daughters Dayla (Rick) Elliott, and Nita (Ray) White, seven grandsons, 9 granddaughters, 5 great grandsons, and 24 great daughters.
Memorials may be sent to the Tennyson Center for Children, 2950 Tennyson St, Denver, CO 80212.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Ordway First Christian Church in Ordway, CO. Interment took place in the Valley View Cemetery in Ordway, CO.
