Daniel William Florez

Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel William Florez, 80, Rocky Ford, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. Mr. Florez died December 19, 2008, in his home. He was born April 05, 1928, in Fowler to the late Mr. Pedro (Pete) Flores and Mrs. Aurelia (Maria) Bernal of Manzanola. Mr. Florez married the late Florence Castro Florez in Rocky Ford. They had 9 children, Lydia (Rudolph) Medina of Swink, Daniel Art (Betty) Florez of Broomfield, Edward (Beatrice) Florez of Colorado Springs, Elsie (Bobby) Maes of Rocky Ford, Lenore (Juan/Tino) Lucero of Rocky Ford, Rosalie Florez (Gabino Villanueva) of Houston, Texas, Ronald (Rosalinda) Florez of Denver, Steve (Sarah) Florez of Thornton, and Herman (Laura) Florez of Thornton. Mr. Florez is survived by brothers and sisters Nellie Valdez of Manzanola, Sam Flores of Fowler, Virginia Castro of Manzanola, Lillian Aragon of Pueblo, Richard Flores of Manzanola, Raymond Flores of Crowley, Delphinia True of Greeley, Cecilia Herrera of Rocky Ford, Jerry Flores of Fountain and Johnny Baca of Pueblo. He was a proud grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. Mr. Florez was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Aurelia Maria Flores, spouse Florence M. Florez (Castro), his daughter Lydia Medina (Florez) grandson Agee Lee Lucero, Melissa Medina Granddaughter and siblings Joe and Pete Flores. Mr. Florez made contributions to the community with the Parents Council, American Legion, and Elks Lodge. Mr. Florez was a WWII Veteran serving in the Marines. Following the service, interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford and a reception will follow at the location to be announced at the services.
