Della Marie Gauna

Mrs. Della Marie (Dee) Gauna, 72, of Rocky Ford died suddenly Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 while in the company of family members at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, Pueblo, CO. Della was born in Trinidad, CO on January 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Joe and Della (Henry) Montoya. She married Ray Gauna on Nov. 26, 1955 in Rocky Ford. They later divorced. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2000. She was a homemaker and co-owner of RDee's Disco and sold Fireworks and Christmas Trees. She helped her ex-husband on numerous employment ventures and projects. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, and was a devot catholic. She voluntered at the McKittrick Manor in a crafts group for Sage. She also volunteered and donated many things to the kids at Jane's World. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends and anyone who needed a hand. She was a mother figure to all of her nieces and nephews and a godmother to numerous family members and friends. Her home was always open to anyone who came by. She is survived by: Son Art Gauna of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Jane Vera (Paul Carter) of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Patty Gauna (Howard Carter) of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Josie (Jerry) Kneeland of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Don (Lucille) Montoya of Mesquite, NM; Sister Alice (David) Garland of Kepner, TX. She is also survived by She has 9 grandchildren: Nathan Gauna, KC Gauna, Brandon Gauna, Eric Haun, Kayleigh Vera, Morton Gauna, Kyle Gauna, Sean Carter, Brandon Carter, 6 Great-Grandchildren: Aselynn Gauna, Jonathon Gauna, Addilinn Gauna, Ashetyn Rincon, Nathaniel Gauna, Diego Haun and 12 God-children. She was preceded in death by a sister: Julia Apodaca; 3 brothers: Henry, Willie and John Montoya A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 8th, with Fr. Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating. A Rosary Service will be recited at 9:30 AM, Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church by Lucille Montoya. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
