Delmer Lee Schlegel, 59, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Wednesday, June 7th, at his residence. Delmer was born in Rocky Ford, CO on December 29, 1957, a son of Edna May (Trembly) Schlegel and the late Elmer Carl Schlegel. He worked at Bender Oil right out of high school as the station manager until they closed. Then he worked for Dwight and Vernon John Proctor as a farm hand doing what ever was asked of him. He also worked for the Coop until he became ill. Delmer was an avid sports fan. He loved nothing more than the Broncos, he never missed a game and kept track of all their stats even in the losing years. He enjoyed the Rockies and was able to attend many of their games. He also enjoyed watching college football and if asked he could tell you anything you wanted to know about his favorite teams. Delmer loved to go fishing and spent many afternoons and weekends out fishing with his best friend, Randy Zimmerman. He looked forward to the fair and liked watching the tractor pulls and the demolition derby. Delmer was a proud uncle and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his nieces, nephews and great-nephew. He loved spending time with all the family and friends and will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by His mother; Edna of Rocky Ford; Sister Peggy, wife of Jimmy Konieczny, of Newnan, GA; Sister Donna, wife of Larry Dwinell, of Gravette, AR. He is also survived by Nieces: Jessica and husband Eddie David of Ladson, SC, Megan Dwinell of Gravette, AR, Nephews: Tim Dwinell of Gravette, AR, Jeremy "Bubba" Moreland of Newnan, GA, Andrew Dwinell of Pittsburg, KS; Great-Nephew: "Little" Eddie David of Ladson, SC. Special Friends: Randy Zimmerman of Rocky Ford and Mark Campbell of Rocky Ford; Numerous cousins, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 13th at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor John Dell officiating. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ford - Ustick Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.fordustick.com.
