Dixie Lee Altamirano, 72, passed away January 8, 2020. She was born to Clarence Lewis Page and Ruth Adeline Turpin, who both preceded her in death. Dixie was a protector and loyal friend who enjoyed having a good laugh. Dixie is survived by her husband, Luis Altamirano Sr.; her children Richard Tafoya, Twila Tafoya, Michelle Tafoya - Moeller (Brian Moeller), Luis Altamirano Jr., and Maria Altamirano - Alvey; her grandchildren Anthony Tafoya, Suede Altamirano, Jacquelin Alvey, Ashlyn Alvey, Mario Kaufmann, Jozlin Altamirano, Jasmin Altamirano, Sienna Haines, Lily Haines and Skyler Tafoya; her great grandchildren Andrew Johnson and Antonio Johnson; her sisters Jacalyn Bretz, Margaret Jane Carpenter, Mary Jones; her brothers Jim Page and Richard Pennington; her in-laws Genoveva Altamirano, Soledad Noriega, Beatriz Noriega, Olivia Egure, Olga Fierro, Hilda Gomez; and a brother-in-law Jesus Altamirano who has preceded her in death. Other sisters who have preceded her in death are Eleanor Schmidt, Nancy Sparks, Sheila Masias and Sharon Humphrey. Many thanks go out to all of her closest friends. Joyce Ayala, Linda Kieser, and Liz Lucero your kind hearts and the laughter and joy you brought to Dixie will never be forgotten. We will all miss her dearly. Dixie's memorial service will be held 10:30am on January 18, First Christian Church, 400 S. 9th St., Rocky Ford.
