Dolores Lola Martinez, 81, of Ordway, CO, passed away Wednesday, February 6th, peacefully, at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo, CO.
Dolores was born in Ordway, CO on October 15, 1937, a daughter of the late Alejandra Lucy (Calderon) and Julian Montanez.
She was the wife of Eloy Mike Martinez, Sr., they were married on Dec. 8, 1958 in Ordway, CO and recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 336 Auxiliary both in Ordway, CO.
Lola was a very extra ordinary cook and baker. She worked at the Dine-A-Mite Cafe for 15 years as a cook and waitress. She also worked for the Crowley County Schools as a cook for more than 14 years where she retired. Lola baked for the Fire Department and church. She especially liked baking for her family and friends. When any of her family were sick she always sent them some chicken and noodles, hot rolls or sweet rolls. Her specialties were homemade cinnamon rolls, hot rolls, cookies, cakes, apple and cherry pie, chicken and noodles and canned chili peppers. Lola enjoyed crocheting, knitting and loved collecting dolls. She enjoyed going on short trips with her husband to go shopping or gambling. Lola will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Mike of the home; Son Mike (Patricia) Martinez, of Ft. Worth, TX; Son Gerald (Sherri) Martinez, of Sugar City, CO; Daughter Cheryl (Robert) Medina, of Thornton, CO; Son Kenneth (Heather) Martinez, of Henderson, CO; Brother Percy Montanez, of La Junta, CO; She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Angela (Mark) Lopez of Aurora, CO; Megan & Samantha Martinez both of Jacksonville, FL; Lindsay & RJ Medina both of Thornton, CO; Matthew (Vanessa) Anguiano of Ft. Worth, TX; Kirsten & Daemon Furrey both of Henderson, CO; 3 great-grandchildren: Thomas Lopez; Kaleigh Moore; Xavier Anguiano.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her sons: Randolph and Lawrence; siblings: Julian, Jr.; Toni; Arthur; Bessie & Jessie.
A Memorial Mass will be held at at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ordway, CO with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later time in the Valley View Cemetery in Ordway, CO.
