Donald Edward Groves, 78, of Manzanola, CO, passed away Thursday, April 30th, at his residence.

Donald was born in Crowley, CO on September 7, 1941, a son of the late Irene Minnie (Ball) and Clarence Slade Groves.

Don and Cathy were married in Colorado Springs March 18th 1965 during a snowstorm witnessed by dear friends Judy and Paul Bacon who are now deceased.

In his early years, Don worked at Nibco and also worked the Sugar Beet Campaigns. He went on to become a full time farmer and rancher in Manzanola. Don was a devoted Husband and father and a wholehearted Christian man who was a longtime member of the Crowley County Community Baptist Church.

One of his greatest joys, was time spent with his 3 Grandchildren and his 4 Great Grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Cathy of the home; Daughter Cindy Bone, of Loveland, CO; Daughter Kelly (John Pineman) Groves, of Highlands Ranch, CO; Son Troy Groves, of Leoti, KS; Brother Gilbert (Sheila) Groves, of Ordway, CO; Brother Melvin (Christine) Groves, of Ordway, CO; Sister Beverly (Roy) Armstrong, of La Junta, CO; Sister Barbara Wolfe, of Montrose, CO; Granddaughter Heather Vansant, of Loveland, CO; Granddaughter Amber Raines, of Denver, CO; Great-Grandson Vincent Vansant, of Loveland, CO; Great-Granddaughter Elise Vansant, of Loveland, CO; Great-Granddaughter Meeka Badger, of Loveland, CO; Great-Grandson Michael Shawn Raines, of Denver, CO.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Jarrod Adkins

There will be a viewing from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, May 1st at Ford - Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 2nd at Mountain View Cemetery in Manzanola, CO with Pastor Jeremy Hoyt officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery, Manzanola, CO.
