Donald "Don" Van Templeton

April 25, 1955 - October 4, 2013

Donald Van (Don) Templeton, 58, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, October 4th, suddenly, at his residence. Donald was born in Rocky Ford, CO on April 25, 1955, a son of Juanita June (Crawford) Templeton and the late Allan Clare Templeton. He graduated from Rocky Ford High School and attended Northeastern Junior College. At the age of 12 Don began following the mechanics around at his father's implement business, Templeton-Bush. After college he returned to Rocky Ford and began work as a diesel technician at Templeton-Bush. He remained there after the business sold to Rusler Implement. He was a master technician and was especiall skilled at repairing older model equipment. He enjoyed collecting International Harvester memorabilia. As a child Don was both a Cub and Boy Scout. While in school he played baseball and wrestled. Don loved fishing particularly at the family vacation spot in Creede, CO. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Broncos and auto racing. He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church Rocky Ford, CO. He is survived by His mother, Juanita Templeton of Rocky Ford; Sister Karen, wife of Ken Newens, of Kersey, CO; Niece Katie Newens, of Kersey, CO; Nephew Kelly Newens, of Kersey, CO; Special Friend and former wife Linda Templeton, of Rocky Ford, CO; Special First Cousin Linda Palacios, of Guatemala. Don was preceded in death by his Father: Allan; Brother: Terry Templeton; Grandparents: A.V. & Marie Templeton; B.W. & Helen Crawford all of Rocky Ford. A Memorial Service will be at the Community Presbyterian Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 22nd, with Rev. Steve Culver officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
