Donald Patrick (Donnie) Montoya, 55, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, March 14th, suddenly, at his residence.

Donnie was born in Rocky Ford, CO on March 17, 1958, a son of Barbara Josie (Garcia) Montoya and the late Jose Milton Montoya.

He attended the Rocky Ford school system.

He worked as an Automotive Painter and had also worked in construction and building buses in Neoplan in Lamar.

Donnie was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Donnie volunteered for many activities within the church.

Donnie loved fishing, entertaining his nieces and nephews, visiting with his friends, making yard decor and going to auctions.

He is survived by His mother, Barbara of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Greg, husband of  Ernestina Montoya, of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister Nancy, wife of  John Hindes, of Pasadena, Maryland; Aunt Timmie Garcia, of Rocky Ford, CO; Cousin Darren, husband of  Shannon Garcia, of Rocky Ford, CO; Cousin Carmel, husband of  Maria Montoya, of Rocky Ford, CO; Cousin David, husband of  Diane Cordova, of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by Nephews: Ryan (Trinity) Montoya, Danny & Andrew Hindes, Emanuel & Jacob Montoya; Nieces: Toni Montoya, Holli (Ector Ruiz) Montoya; Great-Grand Nephews: Ezekiel Montoya, Deuce Aragon, Alekzander Ruiz.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father; and brother; Chuck Montoya, grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 20, 2014 with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30 AM both at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
