Mrs. Doris Kulakowski, 86, of La Junta died on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 peacefully at Crowley County Nursing Center, Ordway, CO. Doris was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 9, 1926, the daughter of the late Howard Allen and Alta Serra (Upper) Dewey. She graduated from high school in Los Angeles, CA. She was the widow of Edward Kulakowski, they were married on April 3, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2012. Doris worked as a Teachers Aide at Los Angeles Unified School District in Los Angeles, CA. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish La Junta, CO. Doris was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by: Daughter Carolyn wife of Bill Thomas of La Junta, CO; Son Steven Kulakowski of Brazil; Granddaughter Ronni Kamberis of Las Vegas, NV; Grandson William E. husband of Andrea Thomas of Pueblo, CO; Grandson Joey Thomas of Frisco, TX; Grandson Steven E. Kulakowski of Brazil. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ed; 2 sisters: Dawn Smart & Jean Wendt. There will be services at a later date. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
