Doris Louise Ruxton, 90, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 peacefully, at the Crowley County Nursing Center, Ordway, CO. Doris was born in Manzanola, CO on April 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Lelah (Gillaspie) and Roy Harlan Turner. She was the widow of Wallace "Shorty" John Ruxton, they were married on August 4, 1947 in Rocky Ford, CO. She was a member of First Christian Church in Rocky Ford, CO. She retired as a Head Cook at Washington Elementary School in Rocky Ford after 20+ years of service. She is survived by; Son Gordon, husband of Jan Ruxton, of Wichita, KS; Daughter Janice, wife of Bill Thomas, of La Junta, CO; Granddaughter Stacey, wife of Jamie Buford, of Colorado City, CO; Granddaughter Lisa, wife of Danny Chavez, of Manzanola, CO; Granddaughter Sherry Muth, of Rye, CO; Grandson David, husband of Amanda Ruxton, of Emporia, KS; Grandson PJ, husband of Heidi Ruxton, of Wichita, KS. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law: Rowena Turner of Garden City, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wallace "Shorty" Ruxton; brother Melvin Turner; son-in-law Robert Muth. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 29th at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Inurnment of the cremains will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sangre De Cristo Hospice House, 1207 Pueblo Blvd Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.
