E.J. Williams, 84, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, August 25th, at Pioneer Health Care Center.

E.J. was born in Paris, TX on January 24, 1933, a son of the late Willie Mae (Tharp) and Rush Williams. Later, the family moved to Brownfield, TX where his father worked for a large ranch. At the age of 13 the family moved to Trinidad, CO then to Sugar City, CO and eventually settling in Olney Springs, CO to the Stubbs Ranch.

He was the husband of Ruby "Peggy" Jeanette (Atkins) Williams. they were married on May 23, 1953.

E J and his dad farmed several years for Crystal Sugar Co. at Lamar, CO and later in Rocky Ford, after the closure of the Sugar Factory, he and his sons started custom farming in the Arkansas Valley.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Williams of Rocky Ford;

Son Jay, husband of Debbie Williams, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Son Greg, husband of Sandy Williams, of Manzanola, CO;

Sister Faye Manweiler, of La Junta, CO;

Sister Verna Jo Guy, of Yuma, CO;

Sister Betty, wife of Don Filbeck, of Lamar, CO;

Brother Dean, husband of Shirley Williams, of Great Bend, KS;

Grandson Jason, husband of Kendra Williams, of Amarillo, TX;

Granddaughter Amy Williams, of Pueblo, CO;

Granddaughter Sarah Williams, of Reno, NV;

Grandson Casey, husband of Rebecca Williams, of Manzanola, CO;

Granddaughter Becky, wife of Mike Morris, of Fort Riley, KS;

Grandson Brad Williams, of Bedford, TX;

He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Scott Williams; granddaughter: Robyn Williams; great-granddaughter: Cortney Williams; 2 brother-in Laws: Henry Manweiler and Harold Guy.

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 1st at Mountain View Cemetery in Manzanola, CO, with Pastor John Dell officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Manzanola, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's choice.
