Obituary

Edward Lee Blasi, 89, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away peacefully Monday, November 23rd, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo.  Ed was born in Bloomfield, IA on March 25, 1931 and was the son of the late Lois (Francis) and Charles Walter Blasi.  He married Patricia Ann (Loreman) Blasi on June 7, 1969 in Santa Fe, NM.  He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, CO and was certified as a lay servant.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1955.

Ed was an easy going, loving and devout father and husband.  He was able to strike up conversation with anyone he met and enjoyed life and learning.  Ed and family moved to Rocky Ford in August 1979 and he taught high school Math and coached a variety of sports in the community until he retired in June of 2000.  He continued teaching after retirement at Otero Junior College (OJC) and also instructed prisoners within the correctional system and helped them gain their GED.  Ed was a farmer at heart and the back yard could barely contain all of the vegetables that he grew.  He enjoyed providing the surplus from the garden to his friends and neighbors.  When he wasn't gardening you could find him pursuing his many other activities including singing in both the OJC and church choirs, taking college courses, forecasting the weather, or studying Spanish.  Ed was generous with his time by volunteering at the hospital, Crossroads, Trails on Rails along with many other places.  He also loved fantasy football and frustrated many of his league mates by continuously scanning the waiver wires for the next great player.  Ed will be missed dearly by everyone who was fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.

He is survived by:

Wife: Pat of the home;

Daughter Jennifer (Mark) Blasi - Madigan, of Kenmore, WA;

Son Christopher (Kathleen) Blasi, of Broomfield, CO;

Son Scott (Kristin) Blasi, of Littleton, CO;

Son Marc (Courtney) Blasi, of Henderson, NV;

Sister Darlene Reihmann, of Cedar Rapids, IA. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Isaac Blasi, Carter and Grady Madigan, Alyssa and Evan Blasi, Theo, Liam and Emma Blasi

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his 2 brothers: Charles and Francis Blasi.
