Mr. Edward E. "Sonny" Smith, 69, of Model, CO died on Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo, Pueblo County, CO. Edward was born in Rocky Ford, CO on January 3, 1940, the son of the late Earl Edward and Ada Grey (Lewis) Smith. He was the husband of Carolyn Joyce (Edgar) Smith. They were married December 28, 1997 in Rocky Ford, CO He worked as a Law Enforcement Officer. He started out working in the Sherriff's office before becoming a Police Chief in Westlake, TX and Brazoria, TX. He retired as a Captain in the Prison System from TX. He served in the US Air Force. He attended Valley Cowboy Church and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; Daughter Brenda wife of Henry Jobin of New Orleans, LA; Daughter Cindy Smith of Austin, TX; Daughter Carolyn wife of Blaine Lenzer of Cody, WY; Son David husband of Kelly Smith of Bartlett, TX; Son Eddie Smith of TX; Daughter Debra wife of Ron Malstrom of Lake Summerville, TX; Sister Peggy wife of Bob Holthus of Grand Junction, CO; Sister Elsie wife of Ray Lunceford of Vero Beach, FL; Sister Barbara Sue Pritchett of Apache Junction, AZ; Step Son Jay Ridenour; Step Son Cody husband of Tammy Ridennoure of Rocky Ford, CO; Grandchildren 10 Great-Grandchildren 7 Step-Grandchildren 2 He was preceded in death by a grandson: Jeremy Heines. Memorial Service will be at the Community Presbyterian Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24th, with Gail Allen and Rev. Steve Culver officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
