Elbert H. Heatwole, 85, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Monday, November 2nd, suddenly at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta. Elbert was born in La Junta, CO on January 6, 1930, a son of the late Nora (Good) and Elbert Herman Heatwole, Sr. Elbert graduated from Swink High School in 1948. He was the husband of EJ (Rice) Heatwole, they were married on March 23, 1952 in Leetonia, OH. He worked as a Dairy Farmer and also worked as a car salesman for June Chevrolet, Farm Manager for North American Dehydrating Company, He was a member of First United Methodist Church Rocky Ford, CO. Elbert was active within the church as Head Usher, on the Building Committee, sang in the Church Choir and was an active volunteer whenever he was asked or needed. He was a past member of the ELKS Lodge in LaJunta. He is survived by his wife EJ of the home; Son Michael, husband of Debby Heatwole, of Lubbock, TX; Son Mark Heatwole, of La Junta, CO; Son Jon, husband of Carol Heatwole, of Lubbock, TX; Sister Charlene, wife of Alfred Nielson, of Cheraw, CO; Brother Franklyn, husband of Esther Heatwole, of La Junta, CO; Special Friend Terri Kitch of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Caleb (Cindy) Heatwole; Kendra (Clint) Clark; Colby Heatwole; Kent Heatwole; Micah (Crystal) Heatwole; Eric (Tiffany) Heatwole; Holly (Ryan) Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren. Elbert was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Service will be at the First United Methodist Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 6th, with Pastor Marty Lee officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta, CO. Family request donations to First United Methodist Church 301 W. Washington Rocky Ford, CO 81067. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.fordustick.com.
