Mr. Elfego Madrid, 88, of Rocky Ford died on Sunday, September 13th, 2009 peacefully at the Fowler Health Care Center, Fowler, CO. Elfego was born in Duran, NM on July 25, 1921, the son of the late Felipe and Lolita (Villanueva) Madrid. He worked as a Farmer at the Proctor's farms. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He is survived by: Daughter Senthia Madrid of Atlanta, GA; Daughter Rosalie Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Patty Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Debbie Zamora of Independence, KS; Son David Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Patrick Madrid of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister Lenora wife of Waldo Aparicio of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Emma Lee wife of Ernie Stimpfl of Schaumburt, IL; Brother Gilbert husband of Mary Madrid of Raton, NM; Brother Joe husband of Della Madrid of Albuquerque, NM; Brother Arnie husband of Marilyn Madrid of Socorro, NM; He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Agnes Gonzales; 2 brothers: Philip Madrid Jr. and Pat Madrid. Memorial Service will be at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 1:30 PM on Thursday, September 24th, with Fr. Don Malin officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
