Ella Margaret (Sauer) Bauer went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the age of 94. She was born to John Sauer and Alice Traudt on January 22, 1917, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She attended school in Weatherford, Oklahoma and graduated from Corn Bibyle Academy. She married Joseph Bauer on July 12, 1938 and out of the union seven (7) daughters were born. Ella is survived by her daughters, Betty Rusher (Lowell) Amarillo, Texas; Carol Vetter (Kenneth) Selah, Washington; Charlotte Mascarenas (George) Lamar, Colorado; Mary Young (Lerry), Sugar City, Colorado; Josephine Chacon, Trinidad, Colorado; Margaret (Dwight) Gardner, Ordway, Colorado, Deborah Sandoval, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 18 grand children, 36 great grand children and 22 great- great grandchildren, and one brother Ezra Sauer, Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, of 49 years, her parents, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers, grandchildren Larry Mascarenas, Cheryl Glover, and great-great grand daughter Misty Ella Aragon. Ella and Joe were life-long residents of Sugar City where they raised their daughters on the family farm. She lovingly cared for and supported her family throughout her lifetime, finding joy in watching her numerous grandchildren grow and flourish. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading, painting and drawing. She loved serving the Lord and caring for her children. Embraced by her family in her final hours she was showing them how to bravely and gracefully follow the lord. Pall Bearers are Joey Rusher, Gene Aragon, J.B. Young, Ricardo Chacon, Lerry Young, George Mascarenas. Honorary Pall Bearers: Harvey Hamburger, Willie Hamburger, Wilbur Hamburger, Melvin Hamburger, Carl Maddy, Dwight Gardner, Kenny Vetter, Lowell Rusher and all her grandchildren unable to attend. Funeral Services will be at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Sugar City, at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 6th. A visitation will be Thursday, May 5th from 2-7 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Sugar City, CO. Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Sugar City, CO 81076 or Arkansas Valley Hospice, 118 W. 4th, La Junta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
