October 9, 1912 - January 8, 2010

Mr. Elwin Lynn Morgan, 97, of Rocky Ford died Friday, January 8th, 2010 peacefully at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center-Nursing Center East, La Junta, CO. Elwin was born in rural Morland, KS on October 9, 1912, the son of the late Coy Oscar and Ida Pearle (Goodrow) Morgan. He attended a one room school through the 8th grade then went to Morland High School where he graduated in 1931. He married Pauline (Covalt) Morgan on Feb. 1, 1936 in Norton, KS. She preceded him in death in Aug. of 2005. Elwin & Pauline moved to Colorado in August of 1936, living east of Pueblo. In 1942 they moved to Manzanola and farmed north of town for several years. In the fall of 1962 they quit farming and moved to Rocky Ford. He worked at Yoder-Peterson Bean Elevator, when they closed he worked for the City of Rocky Ford in the Parks & Recreation Department. After he retired from the city he worked part-time for Cutty's Campground near Coaldale, CO. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Rocky Ford, CO 81067. He is survived by: Daughter Peggy wife of Leon Love of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Betty wife of Emery Murray of Las Animas, CO; Daughter Dianna wife of Jude Bales of Conifer, CO; Son Donald husband of Leanna Morgan of Pueblo West, CO; Brother Dale Morgan of Sterling CO; Brother Everett Morgan of Denver, CO; Brother DeVere Morgan of Gatesville, Texas; Grandchildren 12 Great-Grandchildren 21 Great-Great-Grandchildren 7 He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Pauline; son: Richard; brothers: Hillard, Oren, & Dean; sisters: Mildred & Mabel. Memorial Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 23rd, with Rev. Olga Hard officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Manzanola Cemetery Manzanola, CO. Family request donations to First United Methodist Church 301 W. Washington Rocky Ford, CO 81067 or Arkansas Valley Hospice 118 W. 4th La Junta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
