Emma Maude Wilson, 86, of Olney Springs, CO, passed away Sunday, June 14th, at Crowley County Nursing Center, Ordway.

Emma was born in Crowley, CO on March 24, 1934, a daughter of Otto L. and Vera (Rowland) Pfeiff.

She was the widow of Walter Leroy Wilson, they were married on May 28, 1952 in Raton, NM.

She was a member of Crowley Community Baptist Church in Crowley, CO.

Emma spent her early life on the dry land north of Fowler. She and her siblings would walk each morning to catch the school bus (of course it was up hill both ways and in 4 feet of snow) where she would graduate from Fowler High School.

She had lots of stories about the farm, but this was where she learned how to make awesome bread and pies. Her mom passed away when she was 10 years old and she was forced to grow up fast by cooking, cleaning and taking care of a household. The family water came from a windmill, she would draw the water for cooking and cleaning.

On cold nights she would heat rocks on a wood stove to put in the beds to keep the family warm at night. She remembered some mornings she would have to brush the snow from her face.

Emma will be missed by her family, friends and those that knew her.

She is survived by: Son Alan, husband of Eva Wilson, of Greeley, CO; Son Roger, husband of Gloria Wilson, of Olney Springs, CO; Son Billy, husband of Gloria Wilson, of Olney Springs, CO; Son Clifford, husband of Myrna Wilson, of Fowler, CO; Sister Helen Adair of Burke, VA.

She is also survived by Numerous Grandchildren and Great - Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter; son Jimmy; 6 brothers; 4 sisters.

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 18th at Olney Springs Cemetery in Olney Springs, CO. Interment Olney Springs Cemetery Olney Springs, CO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crowley Community Baptist Church 319 1st Street Crowley, CO 81033.
