Erminio Gilbert Maestas Jr was born January 23, 1946, in La Junta to Erminio Sr and Mollie Maestas. He passed away unexpectedly in his home in Rocky Ford, Colorado on January 24, 2023.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Gilbert spent most of his life traveling between New Mexico and Colorado working various jobs. He finally settled down in Rocky Ford and lived a very humble, quiet life. He was a devout Catholic and practiced his faith diligently. He will be remembered for his friendly nature and being easy going.

He is also survived by his 4 siblings: Della Ramirez of La Junta, Ray Maestas, William Maestas both of Rocky Ford, and Mary Lou (Sam) Ramirez, numerous nieces and nephews: Lynette Ramirez of La Junta, Michael (Jenna) Ramirez of Pueblo and Leonard (Cheri) Ramirez of Colorado Springs, Leroy, Monica, Vanessa, Samuel, Matthew, Brian, Leandra, Ric and Bernadett and numerous friends in the community. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice Maestas and nephew Nathan.

According to wishes by his parents, he will be cremated and buried immediately in a private service. A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at a later date.
