Evelyn Jane Van Galder, 82, of Rocky Ford, passed away October 23, 2023 at Fowler Health Care.

Evelyn was born in Olney Springs to Armor and Audrey (Brandon) Cochran on November 25, 1940. After graduating from Olney Springs High School, she went on to earn a degree in Hair Styling and

Cosmetology at Hollywood Beauty College in Denver. After graduation she moved to Rocky Ford in 1960

and worked at Loyd's Lovely Ladies. Later on, she worked in food services at Rocky Ford Nursing home

and the school district. One of her passions for helping and caring for others and volunteering along

with recycling. She earned volunteer of the year for Rocky Ford in 2016. Evelyn was a member of St.

Peters Lutheran Church in Rocky Ford.

Evelyn was married to Donald Van Galder on February 16, 1964. He preceded her death on April

21, 2005. Also preceding her death were her parents and sisters Nancy Lasley (Gale) and Anna Bell Kirk

(Gean). Survivors include son Jeff Van Galder and daughter in-law Cherry (Eckert) Van Galder of Arizona. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Services Will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to Arkansas Valley Hospice in La Junta or Good Shepard Community.
