Fern was born in La Junta, CO on September 4, 1930, the daughter of the late Fred Ray and Mamie Vera (French) Brandt.

She attended North La Junta Elementary, Middle School and graduated from La Junta High School.

She was the widow of Carl Kenneth Maier. They were married on August 6, 1949 in Rocky Ford. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2002.

She was the Owner/Operator at Fern's Floral & Gifts in both La Junta & Rocky Ford. She also Owned/ Operated Fern's Custom Quilting in Rocky Ford and Cheraw and was an Avon Representative.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Rocky Ford, CO and a member of the Holbrook Neighbors Extension Club.

She is survived by: Daughter Katherine Ann Benz of La Junta, CO; Daughter Evelyn Kay wife of Bill, Jr. Burrell of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Jodee wife of Chuck Fraley of Cheyenne, WY; Son Carl "Kenny" Kenneth husband of Lori Maier, Jr. of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Paul Gregory Maier of Plattville, CO; Daughter Pamela Sue wife of Don Rogers of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister-in-law Betty Lou Maier of La Junta, CO; Brother-in-law Ishmal Maier of La Junta, CO; Brother-in-law Jake husband of Dorothy Maier of Canon City, CO; Sister-in-law Martha Wisler of Rocky Ford, CO. Grandchildren: Rob Fraley, Doris Bryant, Brian Benz, Brittney Benz, Christine Maier, Kyle Maier, Sam Rogers, Jake Rogers. Great-Grandchildren: Ryan Bryant, Shane Bryant, Caleb Bryant, Kaitlyn Fraley, Jennifer Fraley, Mary Fraley

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Clarence, Fred, Gilbert and Jesse Brandt; 2 sisters: Mildred Shelton and Doris Scofield.

Memorial Service will be at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 11th, with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private in Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
