Fred "Freddie" J. Lopez

Fred Juan (Freddie) Lopez, 83, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away on Friday, July 7th, 2017 while in the company of family, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta. Fred was born in Trinidad, CO on September 28, 1933, a son of the late Emma Manuelita (Rael) and Tomas Lopez. He married Mary Louise (Guzman) Lopez on July 6, 1957. She preceded him in death on September 4, 1981. Fred was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. He retired as a farmer after 51 years. Fred enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and fishing. He was beloved and will be greatly missed by his daughters, the rest of the family and anybody who knew him. Fred is survived by; three daughters, Debra, wife of Louie Guerrero, of Rocky Ford, CO; Denise, wife of Carlos Chavez, of Denver, CO; Darlene Lopez, of Denver, CO; two sisters, Frances Flores, Theresa Lopez, three brothers, Pat, Raymond and Louie Lopez. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Eisa Guerrero-Balderas wife of Cesar Balderas, Louis Guerrero, Jr., Orlando Guerrero, Mary Lopez, Justine, Pamela and Savannah Benavidez, Angelo, Dominick, and Samantha Lopez; 4 great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Jasmine Guerrero, Nevah Benavidez, David Robertson and Melia Lopez. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Mary Louise; 3 brothers: Tommy, Lawrence and Celestino "Tino" Lopez. A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:00 AM with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 13th at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM until service time in the St. Peter's Catholic Church.
