Gary McBee Feb. 25, 1941 – Aug. 25, 2009 Gary R. McBee (Mac) passed away suddenly on August 25, 2009 at the Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, CO. Gary was born in Great Bend, KS on February 25, 1941 to the late Howard Paul (H.P.) and Emma (Johnson) McBee. He attended La Junta schools, grades 1 thru 12, graduating from La Junta High School in 1959. He took All-State awards in Track (high point track man) and Basketball (league-leading "one-eyed" rebounder) during his high school years. Early on, Gary's passion was cars. He was a life-long enthusiast for all aspects of cars. In 1972 he became owner/operator of McBee's Auto Repair in North La Junta. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan. They were married on May 6, 1962 in Tulsa, OK. Also are his three daughters, Jovonna Jo (John Jagels) of Cleveland, OH, Janine Rae (Gerome Bernal) of Grand Junction, CO and Jerri Lynn of La Junta, CO. Two grandchildren, Michael Anthony Paul Bernal of Grand Junction, CO and Cortnie Leigh McBee of Cleveland, OH. His sister, Connie Rogers (Chuck Sober) of La Junta and his brother Darrell (Shirley) of Hobson, MT as well as nephew Troy Rogers (Kris) of Riverton, WY and nieces JoAnn and Julie McBee of WA. Cremation is entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO. No funeral services will be conducted per Gary's request; a private memorial will be arranged at a later date.
