Gloria Martinez

Ms. Gloria Martinez, 71, of Rocky Ford died on Sunday, February 14th, 2010 at her residence. Gloria was born in Wagon Mound, NM on April 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Andres Donciano and Pillar Mary (Sisneros) Martinez. She graduated from Fowler High School and then graduated from Trinidad Jr. College with an Associate Degree in Business. She later graduated from Otero Junior College with an Associate Degree in Child Development. She had been married to Jake C. Martinez. She worked as a Teacher at CDS in rural Rocky Ford., for 33 years. After that she worked for Tri County Family Care Center as a Parent as Teachers Educator. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. She was a member of the St. Anthony's Circle at St. Peter's Catholic Church, she attended the Council of Catholic Women and was a member of the Rocky Ford ELKS Lodge 1147. She was very involved and volunteered for numerous community activities through the years. She is survived by: Daughter Evette Frentress of LaJunta, CO; Granddaughter Sierra Frentress of LaJunta, CO; Granddaughter Heather Martinez of Norfolk, VA; Grandson Senon Frentress of LaJunta, CO; Grandson Erik Frentress of LaJunta, CO; Grandson Courtney Martinez of Denver, CO; Grandson Sean Martinez of Denver, CO; Niece Janet Arenas of Rocky Ford, CO; Niece Noreen Aragon of Pueblo, CO; Nephew Dean Aragon of Rocky Ford, CO. She is also survived by Great-Grandchildren: 3 She was preceded in death by a son: Erik Martinez on February 10, 1999; a sister: Olivia Aragon in February of 1999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 19th, with Fr. Don Malin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 1-5 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will be at 7 PM on Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church.
