Helen M. Showalter

Helen Mildred Showalter, 93, of La Junta, CO, passed away on Tuesday, April 5th, peacefully, at Fowler Health Care Center in Fowler. Helen was born in Camden, NJ on June 29, 1922, a daughter of the late Georgianna (Richards) and John B. Alden. She was the widow of Earl Ellsworth Showalter. They were married on August 8, 1953, he preceded her in death on April 4, 1999.. She worked as a Nurses Aide in several hospitals before meeting Earl in Denver then became a homemaker and helped on the farm and in the grain elevator in Swink. Helen is survived by: a step daughter, Mary Morrill and companion John Voorheis, of Lone Tree, CO; two step sons Ralph, husband of Janet Showalter, of Rocky Ford, CO; Roy, husband of Phyllis Showalter, of Swink, CO; Grandson: Steve Showalter husband of Melanie of Fredericksburg, VA; Granddaughter: Audra Schlosser wife of Todd of Burlington, CO; Grandson Heath Showalter husband of Rachel of Cortez, CO; Granddaughter Amy Randolph wife of Clint of Denver, CO; Granddaughter Abby White wife of Bo of Cheraw, CO; Sister-in-Law Sharon Farrell. She is also survived by 10 Great-Grandchildren: Caden, Connor, Michael & Jesse Showalter; Briar Schlosser, Tatum, Talon, Tyran, Tristyn White; CJ Randolph. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 brothers: John A., Richard W., Eugene & George Alden; 2 sisters: Priscilla Riberio & Edith Lupica There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30th at Swink Methodist Church in Swink, CO with Pastor Susie Burley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swink Methodist Church, P.O. Box 565, Swink CO 81077. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
