Herman Encarnation Ochoa

On April 2nd 2026, at his home in Rocky Ford, our beloved father, Herman Ochoa, passed away peacefully. Known to family and friends as Daddy, Grandpa, Herman, Pops, “H,” or “Big Herm,” he was the most loving, caring, humorous, and generous man, with the biggest heart. A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he was honored to have served his country. He was a man of many trades and talents, his favorite being woodworking.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Lupe and Nina Ochoa, and his stepson, Gilmore Van Stone. 

Above all, Herman leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his wife, Frances Ochoa; his two daughters, Priscilla Ochoa and Christina Ochoa-LaMar, and their husbands, Stephen LaMar and Hudson Moore, and stepson Jack Van Stone; two grandchildren - Christopher J. Souza and Rosalina M. Garcia, and their spouses, Jamie Souza and Joshua Garcia; seven bonus grandchildren - Mahriyon and Maiyah LaMar, Zulema, Solomon, Zion, Mason, and Rozlynn Moore; three great-grandchildren - Kian and Kade Souza, and Ryann Ruth Garcia; and bonus great-granddaughter, Aylah Alderson; his siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
