Iona Mae Hamilton was born to Paul and Edith Lusk on July 11, 1930 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. As a child the family traveled from Colorado to California to Arizona prior to establishing the family farm and produce shed. She married Wayne Hamilton June 10, 1948. Iona worked for many years for doctors at the Watkins Medical Arts Building. She and her husband Wayne contributed many years as leaders for Grand Valley 4-H Club and she was active at the state level. The pair continued as major supporters of the 4-H program. Iona was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; 1 grandson, Trenton Turner ; sisters-in-law, Emma Lou Lusk and Iris Delong; parents, Paul and Edith Lusk; and in-laws Wayne and Edith Hamilton. She is survived by 3 children, Randy (Bernie) Hamilton, Don (Sally) Hamilton and Ann (Jim) Turner. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Chad (Robin) Hamilton, Aislinn (Mike) Kottwitz, Mallori Hamilton, Lindy Hamilton, Trevor (Katie) Turner, Travis Turner, and Treanne Turner and 3 great granddaughters: Keelin Hamilton, Tatum Kottwitz and Cashlyn Kottwitz. Also surviving is her brother Truman (Judy) Lusk and brother-in-law Gerald (Shirley) Delong. Many nieces, nephews and friends also mourn her passing. Memorial services will be held at the former Church of the Brethren in Rocky Ford at 11:00am Saturday, February 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Otero County 4-H foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
