James "Jim" Payton

James Joseph (Jim) Payton, 84, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Monday, August 18th, suddenly, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta. James was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 11, 1930, a son of the late Marie (McGuire) and James Payton and graduated from Roslyn High School in New York. Jim was the husband of Peggy Ann (Hopper) Payton, they were married on November 18, 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a self-employed electrician. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. He is survived by his wife Peggy of the home; Daughter Mary Jane, wife of Daniel Moseley, of Hillsboro, NC; Step Son Loren, husband of Kathy Buchanan, of Washington; Step Daughter Debbie, wife of Bill Gadd, of Fullerton, CA; Step Daughter Julie, wife of Don Hayden, of Capistrano Beach, CA; He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by a son: Richard Payton. A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 8th, 2014 with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM both at the St. Peters Catholic Church, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
