Jerry J. Lorenzo

Jerry Joseph Lorenzo, 88, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Wednesday, March 15th, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta. Jerry was born in La Junta, CO on February 13, 1929, a son of the late Congetta (Lavia) and Salvatore Lorenzo. When they moved to the United States from Rome, Italy they dropped the De from De Lorenzo and went by Lorenzo. He was the widower of Janet Jo (McDowell) Lorenzo, they were married on Nov. 16, 1954 in Raton, NM. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. He graduated from La Junta High School in 1947, then served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt from 1950 - 1952. Jerry served as the Chaplain for many years with the La Junta American Legion. Jerry & Janet moved to Rocky Ford, CO in 1960 where he worked most of his jobs. He worked in Canon City as an Ice Maker for 3 years. Then in Rocky Ford he worked at Staufers Packing House for 12 years and First Prize Pinto Beans for 12 years. He had also worked in north La Junta building trailers for 3 years and at Green and Babcock Lumber Company for 5 years. He is survived by; Daughter Julia Anderson Son Jacob Lorenzo Daughter Joletta Daughter Juanita Son Johnny Lorenzo Son James Lorenzo Daughter Jovita Son Jethro Lorenzo Son Jasper (Frances) Lorenzo Daughter Jacinthia (Albert) Son Jay-Jay Lorenzo Grandchildren: 30 Great-Grandchildren: 28 He had 4 sisters and 1 brother. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; children: Jerry, Jr., Joslyn, Jerome, Joseph and Jed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 22nd at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 22nd with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 22nd at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Fr.
