Joann Torres, age 52, died unexpectedly at her home. Joann was born February 21, 1966 to Edwin and Ruth (Thomas) Sanders in Rocky Ford Colorado. She attended Rocky Ford Schools and Otero Junior College.

Joann is survived by children Tishina Florez, Gabrielle Torres, Patrice Torres, Alexander Torres and Kaitlan Torres-Ring all of Rocky Ford; grandchildren Joshua Florez of Denver, James Torres, Daminick Torres, Jodia Torres, and Noah Torres of La Junta. Brothers Dean (Joan) Sanders of Levelland Texas and Rockie Sanders of Rocky Ford and brother-in-law John Ring of Rocky Ford. She is also survived by an Aunt, Carol (Don) Gause of Rocky Ford and several cousins and friends.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Denise Sanders and Kit Ring; grand parents Floyd and Edna Sanders and Ida and Hobart Thomas and step grandparents Hattie and Henry Berg.

Ms. Torres was active in school activities, Rainbow girls and girl scouts. She was a leader when her children were in Brownies and Girl Scouts. She worked at several positions including receptionist, housekeeper, restaurant cook, customer service, and retail.

Joann was excited and looking forward to welcoming a new granddaughter to the family. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and lots more. Family games of hide and seek or playing on the tire swing at her grandparent's home were fond memories. She loved to cook and share with others. She enjoyed telling stories, jokes, and spending time with the family.

Joann will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Memorial services will be Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Ford – Ustick Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. There will be a luncheon to follow at the Rocky Ford ELKS Lodge #1147.
