Mr. Joe Talmich, Sr., 85, of Rocky Ford died on Thursday, July 21st, 2011 while in the company of family members at his residence. Joe was born in Walsenburg, CO on November 1, 1925, the son of the late Joe Manuel and Rosabel (Martinez) Talmich. He was the widower of Mary Tillie (Roybal) Talmich. They were married on August 12, 1944 in Rocky Ford. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army as a SP4. He retired as a Custodian at Rocky Ford school system in Rocky Ford, CO. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church Rocky Ford, CO. He was a member of the Men's Organization, Church Council, served as a Eucharist Minister and worked for the church in maintenance for 14 years. He was a past City Council Member. He was also a member of the Rocky Ford Wrestling Federation and a Commissioner for Governor Love. He was a past Grand Marshall of the Arkansas Valley Fair and was also a past Citizen of the Year of Rocky Ford. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies, WWE & WWF Wrestling. He is survived by; Daughter Mary (Jim) Marrow of Colorado Springs, Co.; Daughter Deen Talmich of Colorado Springs, Co; Daughter Bernice Donelson (Lupe Gonzales) of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Merlinda (Diego) Martinez of Denver, CO; Daughter Rose (Gilbert) Gerardo of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter Vangie (Charlie) Martinez of Thornton, CO; Daughter Diana (Phil) Higgs of Pueblo, CO; Daughter Viola (Ronnie) Rodriquez of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Melissa Talmich (Joe Sandoval) of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Joe (Tammy) Talmich of La Junta, CO; Son Robert (Bonnie) Talmich of Colorado Springs, CO; Son Tom (Cheryl) Talmich of Colorado Springs, CO; Son Mike (Diana) Talmich of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Rich "Cookie" Talmich of Denver, CO. He is also survived by 37 Grandchildren and numerous Great and Great Great Grand children. He was preceded in death by a sister: Emma Martinez; 4 brothers: Bennie, Chris, Tony & Max Talmich; 2 grandsons: Chris Donelson; 2 great-granddaughters: Heather Borton, Ariel Lopez; great-grandson: Christopher Rodriquez; daughter-in-law: Lily Talmich A Vigil Service will be at 6:00 PM Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 26th. A visitation will be on Monday from 12 PM until 4 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.fordustick.com. The family will be unavailable on Saturday but welcomes visitors on Sunday or you may call.
