Mr. John Bitter, 87, of Rocky Ford died on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010 suddenly at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO. John was born in Rocky Ford, CO on September 1, 1923, the son of the late Henry and Christina Bitter. He attended the Vroman schools. He was the widower of Martha Jane (Smith) Bitter. They were married on Dec. 14, 1950 in Raton, NM. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army in WW II. He was a Farmer and farmed for over 50 years. He was a member of First Church of God in Rocky Ford, CO. He is survived by: Daughter Jody wife of Richard Keck of Manzanola, CO; Son Mark husband of Laurie Bitter of La Junta, CO; Grandson Chris Keck of Rocky Ford, CO; Granddaughter Kayla Bitter of La Junta, CO; Granddaughter Kristen Bitter of La Junta, CO; Brother Henry Bitter, Jr. of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Helen Argo of Fowler, CO. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren: Hayley, Kyle & Kaitlynn Keck all of La Junta. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers & 4 sisters. Graveside Services will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 4th. A Visitation will be on Monday from 12 - 5 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
