John Henry Magdaleno, known as “Henry” passed away on July 5, 2026, at the Fowler Nursing Center in Fowler. Henry was 87 years old.
Born on February 8, 1939, in Rocky Ford, to Alfredo Jesus Magdaleno and Soledad (Inojas) Magdaleno. Henry lived his life boldly, honorably, respectfully and would help out even a stranger in need. Henry was a true jokester that would make everyone in the room laugh. Henry met and married the Love of his Life Jean Rose on February 28, 1959, this is where their journey began. Working odd jobs early in his marriage, Henry knew the value of Life, Family and Protection for the ones he truly loved. Henry was employed with the Sugar Factory for years until its closure. Then he began working with area farmers, harvesting the watermelons that signify Rocky Ford’s history. Henry was also one of the first Taxi Cab Drivers in Rocky Ford. Once the odd jobs concluded, Henry began a career with Frozen Foods where he became a Foreman and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Frozen Foods unfortunately closed its doors, and the application process began again. Henry finally achieved a career that would take him and Jean into retirement, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF). Henry and BNSF would become a partnership that would expand over thirty years, countless nights away from the family, missing sporting events, missing Prom Night Photos, missing Jean Rose….to Henry, it was providing for my family.
Our Father enjoyed spending time playing bingo, watching his beloved Cincinnati Bengals and would sit and talk sports with anyone that would listen. Henry wasn’t just our Father, he was our first Coach at whatever sport his sons were participating in. Henry may not have the knowledge of certain sports, or for that matter, know the rules, but we knew one thing, he would learn the rules and make all of us better. Our Father was a Rocky Ford Wrestling State Placer at 105 Lbs. while attending high school. Sports, was in his blood.enry may haHHH
Henry is survived by brother Ernie (Jane) Magdaleno. Sons: Alfredo Magdaleno, Johnny (Bobbi) Magdaleno, Mario (Becky) Magdaleno, Tony Magdaleno and Dominic (Aedra) Magdaleno. Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean Rose, sister Gavina (Willie) Valdez, brothers Paul Magdaleno and Rueben Magdaleno.
