Mr. Johnny Ernest Gauna, 72, of Rocky Ford died Sunday, August 14th, 2011 while in the company of family members at his residence. Johnny was born in Rocky Ford, CO on February 27, 1939, the son of the late Abelino and Flora (Vigil) Gauna. He graduated from Rocky Ford High School. He was the husband of Maria "Jan" Janeria (Romero) Gauna. They were married on January 19, 1963 in La Junta, CO. She survives. He served in the U.S. Navy as a E-2. He retired as a Shipping/Receiving Clerk at Digital Equipment Corp. in Colorado Springs, CO. He also worked for the Arkansas Valley Community Center as a host home provider. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church Rocky Ford. He is survived by his wife; Jan of the home; Son Andy Gauna of Pueblo, CO; Daughter Julie wife of Adam Vigil of Pueblo, CO; Son Gene husband of Beverly Gauna of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Brian husband of Tammy Gauna of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Michael husband of Maria Gauna of Ordway, CO; Daughter Sarah wife of Steve Florez of Denver, CO; Brother LeRoy Gauna of Michigan; Sister Rosie Avila of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Lillie Chavez of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Betty wife of Benny Torres of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Lee Jane wife of Pete Martinez of Rocky Ford, CO; He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren: Angelo Gauna, Chamarice Amaya, Alexis Vigil, Brian Gauna, Jr., Diajinae Gauna, Michael Gauna, Jr., Jacob Vigil, Dominic Gauna, Gabriel Gauna, Izamaya Gauna, Steve Florez, Jr., Annette Florez, Melanie Florez & Matthew Florez; 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: Son; Johnny Gauna, Jr.; Great-Grandaughter: Jayleigh Gauna-Valdez; 1 Sister: Annie Vigil; 2 Brothers: Raymond & Albert Gauna. A Rosary Service will be recited at 9:30 AM on Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 18th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh and Fr. Mario Murillo officiating. A Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1-5 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Rosary Service 9:30 AM Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church.
