Jose Maria Mendoza Lozoya, 73, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Monday, July 22nd, at Memorial Health System, Colorado Springs.

Jose was born in Galeana, Chihuahua, Mexico on May 9, 1946, a son of the late Felicidad (Lozoya) and Ernesto Mendoza.

He was the widower of Cecelia Barbara (Whatley) Mendoza.

He attended the St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO.

Most of his life was spent in Wichita, KS where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He enjoyed watching horse races with his friends and taking long trips to Mexico to visit family. He also enjoyed spending and caring for his beloved dog Pee-Wee.

He is survived by;

Son Luis Ernesto Mendoza, of Galeana, Chih.;

Brother Rigo L. (Darlene Romero) Mendoza, of Swink, CO;

Sister Herminia Mendoza, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Brother Hernando (Dianna Amaya) Mendoza, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Sister Carmen (Ramon) Alvarez, of Galeana, Chih.

Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Cecelia; 2 nephews; 1 great-nephew.

A Rosary Service will be held at 10:30 AM with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26th both at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
